Yes, all charging stations offered on BEQ Technology have a SAE J1772 connector that is compatible with all electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicles sold in North America, except for Tesla charging stations.

Is it possible to plug the station into a dryer outlet or a stove outlet?

We have stations available with a NEMA 14-50 outlet, which is the same as a stove outlet... but not for a dryer, as its NEMA 14-30 connector is not powerful enough to meet standards. So, yes, it is possible to plug it into a stove outlet.

Why buy a Level 2 charging station if I already have a Level 1 charging station with my vehicle?

A Level 2 charging station (240V) will be much more efficient in terms of charging as it is 5 to 6 times faster than a Level 1 charging station (120V).

What are the differences between Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging stations?

Level 1: This is the station provided with the car, commonly called 120V charging. It's used for emergency charging as it's quite slow, providing about 6 km of range per hour. Level 2: Also called a 240V station, it's the one to get for home. It's much faster, charging a car in 3 to 9 hours depending on battery size, and allows for preheating in cold weather without draining the battery. It provides about 30-55 km of range per hour. Level 3: Also known as rapid charging or DCFC, it's found in commercial parking lots or along highways for partial recharges. However, it can affect battery health if used too frequently and it's recommended to stop charging at 80%.

How do I choose my charging station?

Consider the car you want to charge. Different cars have different battery capacities and onboard chargers. The charging speed will always be limited by the lower capacity between the charging station and the car's onboard charger.

Should I choose a direct-wired station or a portable station?

Accepted Answer

If you have a garage, park your car outside in the summer but inside in the winter, or have a cottage, a portable station would be advantageous. It allows you to take your station to your cottage without needing a second one, by simply installing a second 240V outlet at the cottage. Portable stations also have a place for a padlock to prevent theft and are easier to replace under warranty.
